The best presentation in MGTD06 for 2013 - Johnny's Burgers - based on a somewhat "famous" burger joint at Sheppard and Victoria Park - the group demonstrated they had a significant learning experience, and they were able to do a smooth presentation that was energetic and engaged the class. How good was the presentation?, WTGR went to Johnny's after class, had a burger, and met with a "senior management person", and expressed thanks to them for giving the students a useful and interesting learning experience

class attendance March 1st 2012was "modest" due to the bad weather - the presentation by Ms. Yamin was definitely "useful and interesting"
Am sure some of it will be in questions I use on the mid-term and parts of her presentation also provided good tips for your D06 presentations and topics within your project.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_rFGAV6Bew So, Feb 2012, Dewey, a guy in the MGTD06 class at UTSC says to me "heh sir, got an interview by Skype after class, can you show me how to tie a tie"
I said, I'll do better,
  • I'll show you how, right now - so i took off my tie and re-tied it slowly
  • we'll also make a video so you watch it over and over to get it right
  • we'll post it on YouTube for anybody else that might be in the same situation
Dewey, I hope you get the job, get promoted right up the corporarte chain so high that you are senior enough to dress casual all the time cause you did a LBO and bought out the company and are now the owner.... just saying... WTGR

 .....MGTD06-groups-2008.htm

 .....MGTD06-groups-2009.htm

- once you have a name for your group you can let me know and I will replace the "letter" with the group name
- groups listed in reverse order of when I received the information
- it is "OK" for more than one group to do a scenario, there are 3 scenarios and 8 groups so it is expected that there will be 2 or 3 groups doing one case
- therefore you should try to "customize" your case and make it unique in order to explain "many kewl" applications of e-commerce and marketing in the information age

IT IS VERY important that you keep to the time limits posted so as to not run into the time allocated for another group
- if you think your "take down" time, or conclusions will cause you to run over, then shorten the main part
- in the "real world" corporate presenters are very tightly controlled for time and have to make "pitches" in a very short time
- the short amount of time is for 2 reasons
1 - there simply is not time available for a longer presentation - unless we spread this out over 3 classes and that would cut the time I have to "teach you"
2 - the "audience" has already made their decision on your capability in the first 1 or 2 minutes, going beyond 10 minutes is "bonus", but not likely to change opinion
- you will have 25 minutes - use it wisely

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcuw9bMYgHY Read the newspaper on a regular basis

Watch my YouTube video to understand why

Part 1 www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcuw9bMYgHY
(why this helps you in class, and in job hunting)

Part 2 www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tXadb6IsKI
( a story abut how I made money on the stock market cause I read the newspaper and learned about a particular company)

m
When Prof. Richardson asks you at the end of the class "did you learn something useful and interesting" - this is not an empty comment - it is a real attempt to make sure that every class is useful and something you can use in the "real world" to get a job, or create a job and make money.
So, to "give props" to one of my former students.. the logo to the right is from Lester Sabliano, a MGTD06 student several years ago who, with some friends, founded a Toronto based clothing company that is slowly becoming very popular - they have a great website and are steadily growing their product line
- you could do something like this too - just pay attention, do the readings and learn as much as you can
http://www.theoneclothing.com

The calendar may say this is a 4 month course but in reality it is 2 1/2 months cause we only have 2 classes in Sept and no classes in Dec so everything is jam packed up in October and November
